How presumptuous, right? I mean, there are others in the public information world who have more experience, more knowledge and more connections than I do. So, who am I to be so bold to start a website sharing opinions and information I believe to be of value to other public communicators?
Well, in the simplest terms and most convenient definitions:
I’m a GenXer, so there will be plenty of references to John Hughes movies, 80’s hair band lyrics and general indifference to the way things “should” be done.
I’m a journalism graduate from the University of Missouri (M-I-Z-Z-O-U) with a focus on photojournalism, although I decided early on that newspaper work was not my thing.
I’m a mom who just passed the half century mark and is trying to rationalize that I am now the age I thought was old when I was young, but now that I am this age I don’t feel that old...so, yeah.
I am a photographer, a graphic designer, and a public information officer (PIO). I’ve been involved in communications, either visual or written, for 27 years. I’ve done some things well and some things not-so-well, and I’m happy to share the good, the bad and the ugly if it is helpful to someone else.
I am an introverted extrovert.
And, I’m just someone who paid a few bucks for a domain name and a website and decided to go for it. And that, my friends, sometimes, is all the difference.
So come with me on this journey. Let's spend a Saturday (or seven, or eight, or the rest of your natural born life) sharing ideas, thoughts, and mistakes in hopes of learning that:
each of us is a brain...and an athlete...and a basket case...a princess...and a criminal.
Well, except for maybe that last one...that could make things awkward.
Sincerely,
The Brain Snacks Club
I love the facts and tidbits of information hidden within and around your humor. Great job Jen, I feel somehow closer to you, if that makes any sense at all. 😉
